Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the work of accounting staff: This includes assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, providing guidance, and ensuring deadlines are met. 
  • Reviewing and approving financial reports and records: Ensures the accuracy and completeness of financial records. 
  • Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures: Creates and updates the organization's accounting standards, workflows, and internal controls. 
  • Analyzing financial data and preparing reports: Generate reports on the company's financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and other key metrics. 
  • Coordinating with other departments: Serve as a liaison between the accounting team and other functions like other Finance teams, Operations team, Regulatory Affairs teams and Management/Leadership.  
  • Communicating with External Stakeholders and Regulators: Prepare and review communication and analysis with other parties for accuracy and completeness while also understanding related strategic goals of the Company.
  • Training and developing accounting staff: Provides training, mentoring, and career development opportunities for the accounting team. 
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting regulations and standards: Ensures the organization adheres to relevant laws, rules, and reporting requirements. 
  • Assisting in the operating department's budgeting process.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements: Looks for ways to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting workflows. The specific responsibilities can vary depending on the size, industry, and organizational structure of the company.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 plus years' experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong initiative and results-orientation are critical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • SAP experience.
  • Graduate Degree in a business discipline or CPA.
  • Supervisory experience

End Date: 02/20/2025 

Pay Range Minimum:  $101,743.46 

Pay Range Maximum:  $165,332.96 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
