Human Resources Business Partner

WBS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HR Consultant) at our Green Bay or Milwaukee, WI location. A hybrid work option is available with this position along with occasional travel to various offices to support assigned business areas. 

 

This position is part of a job family (HR Consultant/Sr HR Consultant) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Summary

 

The HR Consultant works closely with employees and leaders to provide guidance on HR processes and strategies to foster a positive, engaging and productive workplace while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The role is responsible for understanding the business, and delivering exceptional employee and labor relations service to internal customers and other key stakeholders. This position makes an impact to the corporation by building effective relationships which enable the navigation of complex organizational dynamics and the facilitation of organizational change. 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with company and union leadership in generation and distribution operations business areas
  • Supports corporate business unit goals in compliance with HR policies, practices and procedures as well as within state and federal laws for represented and non-represented employees
  • Participates in union negotiations and administration of collective bargaining agreements with local union(s)
  • Interprets labor contract provisions and past practices to support the day-to-day activities of the business units
  • Provides consultation related to investigations, employment agency complaints, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, grievances, time away from work, ADA and Workers Compensation
  • Delivers training on HR policies and procedures, and provides policy recommendations to ensure compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreement provisions

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR Management or other applicable discipline
  • 2+ years' experience in an HR support/analytical role 
  • Project leadership experience
  • Strong technical understanding of HR subject matter and practices
  • Strong analytical skills 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role in a union environment
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and problem solving skills
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements, participating in union negotiations, processing grievances, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

End Date: 12/07/2025 

 

Pay Range Minimum:  $76,932.70 

Pay Range Maximum:  $132,708.94 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
