Job Summary

 

The Safety Consultant is responsible for building working relationships with company and our contractors. This position will perform field audits and observations to gather information while consulting and advising the department on health and safety issues. In addition, they will lead or assist with investigations of accidents, injuries, tools, equipment, work methods or other issues. Work closely with all levels of the organization as well as the contractors to ensure all work is performed to company safety standards, OSHA, and all workplace safety laws. 

 

This is a job family posting (Associate-Senior) where experience will be the determining factor. 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Audit contractor and company safety performance through observation and inquiry. Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management of issues and solutions
  • Act as a professional resource for all levels of employees while providing a perspective on safety
  • Deliver safety training programs and materials
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs relating to safety
  • Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various physical, biological and chemical agents to determine employee exposures
  • Pursue personal development of technical expertise in a broad range of subject matter relative to safety
  • Assist Safety team with program development and implementation
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors and project leaders
  • Serve on local safety committees while offering perspective on safety issues
  • Support diversity by actively seeking out and encouraging diversity in perspective and by establishing an environment of inclusion

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • The Associate level is an entry level position for which safety or utility experience in lieu of a degree may be considered
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or related field is required in order to be hired into or progress to the Consultant/Sr. Consultant levels in the job family
  • 3-5 years of safety or related experience is required at the Safety Consultant level in the job family
  • Valid driver’s license required. Will be required to use personal vehicle in the performance of duties

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Professional certification, or the ability to gain certification such as an ASP/CSP, CUSP, CIH, CHST, or CHMM
  • Safety experience in the utility industry desired
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Pay Range Minimum:  $66,898.00 

Pay Range Maximum:  $132,708.94 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
