WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Supervisor at the Weston Power Plant located in Kronenwetter, WI. This position is subject to a 12 hour rotating shift schedule.

Job Summary

This Operations Supervisor at the Weston Power Plant supervises employees in shift operation, shift maintenance, and has a focus on operation of power plant based equipment. This position also directs the activities required to ensure productivity and safety.

Job Responsibilities

Manage Employees

  • Drive the performance of employees for both productivity and safety.
  • Plan and conduct safety meetings to communicate safety requirements.
  • Manage work assignments to minimize overtime while maintaining optimal productivity.
  • Coach and counsel employees to achieve optimum performance. Consult with the others as necessary regarding disciplinary issues.
  • Evaluate performance and conduct annual performance reviews with individual represented employees.
  • Work with union stewards to discuss and resolve employee issues and conflicts.
  • Support diversity by actively seeking out and encouraging diversity in perspective and by establishing an environment of inclusion.

Manage Work

  • Manage and prioritize assigned work.
  • Plan daily work activities and communicate job assignments.
  • Evaluate work situations to determine safety issues. Apply knowledge of chemical hazards and procedures for effective control and safety. Ensure compliance with safety procedures including the protective tag procedure, confined spaces, etc.
  • Assist in troubleshooting system components as required.
  • Evaluate the urgency of repairs or shutdown of equipment. Initiates action to repair as required by the circumstances.
  • Apply knowledge of equipment design parameters and component interrelationships to decisions regarding maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational issues.
  • Follow up on assignments to ensure quality, productivity, and safety of work.
  • Work with Senior Supervisors to train staff in job skills.
  • Apply knowledge of environmental policy to decisions regarding plant operations and maintenance.
  • Use knowledge of technical resources to obtain information and guide work teams.
  • Direct preparation of equipment for outage.
  • Manage and administer external contractors to control costs and schedules.
  • Manage plant evacuation and restoration as required.
  • Write notifications for problem identification.
  • Use systems software (e.g., Impact, Manager's Desktop, and Office Suite) to complete administrative tasks such as review of daily timesheets, completion of injury reports, etc.
  • With required training, can serve as a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Planner Scheduler, Outage Planner Scheduler, and/or Maintenance Scheduler.

Maintain Relationships

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with represented employees, unions, and management staff.

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma, HSED, or GED

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in power plant operations and/or maintenance or similar industry OR 5-10 years’ experience in supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, union representatives and plant management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience supervising represented employees is preferred.

Pay Range Minimum:  $85,896.20 

Pay Range Maximum:  $128,844.00

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
