Gas Inspector (Seasonal)

WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas Inspector (Seasonal) in our Green Bay, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by WPS L420. Union.

Job Summary

To direct, coordinate, expedite and inspect the installation of natural gas facilities performed by contractors for WPS in accordance with construction standards, all municipal, state and federal regulations and document these installations and related work to provide accurate records of natural gas facilities. Acts as liaison between contractor and customer.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Inspect the installation of natural gas facilities in accordance with Company standards.
  • Accurately measure and record all of the information for: natural gas main and service records, pay sheets and any other necessary forms.
  • Protect life and property by proper evaluation of emergency situations. Implement the Company’s Gas Emergency Procedure including evacuation and ventilation if necessary. Determine severity of the situation. Communicate to the dispatcher, customer and/or assist emergency response personnel.
  • Provide customer service.  Assist contractor with customer communications and scheduling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Which may include but are not limited to; maintenance of exposed facilities, material pick up and delivery, watchdog/standby.  
  • Specific tasks needed to perform this role will be based on OQ task list.  This list can and will change over time.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of natural gas distribution and/or natural gas construction experience. In lieu of the experience, an individual must possess a Gas Utility Construction and Service Technical Diploma or equivalent Technical Diploma (the Technical Diploma is equivalent to one year of required experience for pay/progression purposes).

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Completion of technical school program in natural gas distribution or equivalent diploma is preferred.
  • Past experience in utility construction is helpful.
  • Past experience as a gas facilities inspector is preferred.

Minimum Posting Range:  $26.74 

Maximum Posting Range:  $37.78 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
