Job Summary

 

The Operations Supervisor manages internal resources, external contracted resources and businessapplications/processes based on the need of the business unit. This includes (but not limited to) supervisory tasks inGas Operations related to construction, design, planning, and scheduling for We Energies gas transmission anddistribution systems. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the construction or maintenanceactivities related to the company’s transmission and distribution infrastructure within an assigned area. OperationsSupervisors ensure that all customers’ needs are met in a safe, efficient and timely manner through the effectivemanagement/utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials. Their first concern is to ensure the safety ofemployees, customers, and contractors during all work applications.


The Operations Supervisor may be rotated to other work areas/functions within Customer Operations in order toaddress workload demands, gain valuable experience, and to develop an understanding and appreciation for otherparts of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Anticipates, meets, and whenever possible, exceed the needs and expectations of internal and external customers. Proactively communicates with other Supervisors to discuss methods used to ensure that schedules are kept, toensure process consistency and to share resources as required
  • Manages multiple tasks and priorities to balance the allocation of resources across the area in order to ensure on-time completion, service reliability, and expense management.
  • Creates and maintains accurate, timely, executable work schedule over approximately a one year period, identifyingwork ready to be released, scheduling resources across skill sets and geographies, and effectively prioritizing thatwork for optimal utilization of personnel and equipment. Manages multiple priorities to meet both internal andexternal commitments, reallocating personnel as required in accordance with shifting priorities and workload.
  • Administers the Work Management process in the areas of forecasting, planning, scheduling, assignment, anddependency management. Participates in identifying best business processes relative to management of workpackages and work sequencing with a view toward exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Communicates with field personnel about changes to schedule, availability of personnel, site readiness, readiness ofwork for release, and the like. Participates in managing overtime with a focus on cost containment, whilemaintaining optimal service.
  • Interacts with scheduling resources and issues that could prevent execution of schedule.
  • Interacts with Operations Manager regarding overall schedule execution, customer dates in jeopardy, politicalissues, unplanned absences, and non-compliance with schedule in a given service center or field area.
  • Makes independent decisions to engage and work with contractors based on work load requirements.
  • Administrative responsibilities: schedules monthly safety meetings and required annual training; ensures that localtraining records are maintained to maximize efficiency of area wide training effort; maintains crew rosters andvehicle and equipment availability records; coordinates information flow among various personnel and work groups;schedules off-hour work per area red-time agreements
  • Acts as storm restoration coordinator as required and/or play a key role in Incident Command for gas emergencyresponse situations.
  • Generate reporting needed to effectively drive productivity, reduce costs, and ensure customer satisfaction, safetyand other business goals are met.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma, HSED, or GED
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving
  • 5-10 years' experience in a distribution/construction operations trade and/or 5-10 years' experience in supervision of direct reports
  • An Operations Supervisor should have a good working knowledge of union contracts and employee relationship building
  • An Operations supervisor shall have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors, and community groups
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are a benefit

Pay Range Minimum:  $88,472.54 

Pay Range Maximum: $132,709 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
