Job Summary
The Gas System Analyst position is responsible for performing work activities to provide safe and reliable performance of the gas field supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, station operations, large volume meter instrumentation and related code compliance activities. Providing field response to gas system control alarms and emergency station situations while maintaining a focus on safety, customer satisfaction, code compliance and financial responsibility.
The Gas System Analyst conducts tasks and project activities with general instruction and often independent of direct oversight and at times leading the team on complex issues. Provides leadership direction and support to junior staff. The Gas System Analyst is a technical expert on station equipment operations, SCADA, and emergency response.
Job Responsibilities
SCADA / Station / System Operations:
- Install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain a wide variety of electronic instrumentation and equipment associated with mechanical and pneumatic devices including equipment associated with gas field SCADA systems.
- Install and maintain as well as provide field support for station equipment including pressure regulation, metering, boilers, odorant injection equipment and chromatographs.
- Provide leadership and support to field operations and Gas System Control to startup and commission a gate or regulator station.
- Complete assigned code required inspections including calibrations of instrumentation and station metering as well as stand along pressure sensing devices.
- Update records as necessary.
Large Volume Meter Instrumentation and Telecommunications:
- Install and maintain volume correcting instruments and telecommunication equipment associated with large volume gas meters and gas transportation customers.
- Respond to pressure and meter alarms associated with large volume and transport customers.
- Complete and maintain the telecommunication equipment associated with transport customers.
- Ensure documentation of associate meter records
Support of other departments:

- Support other areas as needed such as Gas Control Room Management point to point certifications, odorant transfers and odorant density sampling to ensure proper odorization.
- Supports emergency response activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License Required
- Gas System Associate Analyst
- Demonstrates fundamental technical knowledge and analytical skills
- Experience in directly related technical field is beneficial such as gas distribution operations, process control operations, mapping/GPS applications, corrosion prevention operations, gas system control operations and/or gas distribution code compliance
- Relevant experience is based on the specific role of the position, e.g. Instrumentation and Control, Maps and Records, Corrosion and Standards
- Gas System Analyst
- Minimum of 2-4 years as Gas System Associate Analyst or experience in a directly related technical field such as gas distribution operations, mapping/GPS applications, corrosion prevention operations, gas system control operations and/or gas distribution code compliance
- Demonstrates analytical problem solving skills and effective oral/written communication skills
- Relevant experience is based on the specific role of the position, e.g. Instrumentation and Control, Maps and Records, corrosion and Standards
- Specific responsibilities may require particular industry certification such as National Association of Corrosion Engineers – NACE Level 1 certification and Operator Qualification for Gas Control Operations
- Gas System Senior Analyst
- Minimum of 7-10 years as Gas System Analyst or experience in a directly related technical field such as gas distribution operations, process control operations, mapping/GPS applications, corrosion prevention operations, gas system control operations and/or gas distribution code compliance
- Demonstrates effective analytical problem solving skills and effective oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrates a sound understanding of gas distribution codes
- Relevant experience is based on the specific role of the position, e.g. Instrumentation and Control, Maps and Records, Corrosion and Standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in related technical field is preferred
- A sound understanding of gas distribution codes is preferred

Pay Range Minimum: $32.90
Pay Range Maximum: $65.27
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
