Project Controls Manager

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Project Controls Manager in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Green Bay, Wisconsin locations. This position currently offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office.

 

This position will support projects and programs that are part of WEC Energy Group’s $13.2 billion electric generation capital investment plan, which will power economic growth and provide energy reliability in the state of Wisconsin. An additional 1,800 megawatts (MW) of electric demand is expected in the state between 2025 and 2029 — an increased electric load of approximately 20%.

Job Summary

 

The Project Controls Manager is responsible for project cost and schedule control related to the entire scope of the Generation Reshaping Portfolio, including engineering, procurement, construction and start-up. This is a key position toward achievement of the Company’s goal of bringing its new generating units into service below cost and ahead of schedule.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Near term need for Cost and Schedule oversight in corporate office, leading to long term need for similar function at Generation Reshaping Portfolio Project site.
  • Provide overall integrated schedule maintenance and oversight, contractor schedule due diligence, fixed-price contract oversight assistance, progress reporting due diligence, change order control and management.
  • Create, maintain, and update project cost reports including project expenditures, project commitments, project forecasts, variance analysis, change order management, etc.
  • Assist project managers and site construction managers in review and development of overall project resource planning and cash flow.
  • Coordinate with corporate office Project Control personnel to provide timely and accurate information in support of corporate internal and external reporting efforts.  Assist in corporate development of consistent cost and schedule methodology, user-friendly reporting, etc., compatible with current accounting systems.
  • Manage project reporting requirements to CEO.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, or related degree. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, additional commensurate experience will be considered.
  • 15+ years’ experience of specific responsibility for project cost and schedule control. 
  • Significant emphasis on power industry projects with experience in change order estimating and control, and overall fixed-price contract cost management. 
  • Must be fluent in common project controls software, with demonstrated skills using project reporting, scheduling and management tools. (I.e. Primavera P6, Enterprise, Procore, J.D. Edwards, COINS, SAP, Essbase, Microsoft Project, ProjectTeam, Sure Trak, Timberline and Expedition.)

Pay Range Minimum:  $117,004.94 

Pay Range Maximum:  $175,507.54 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
