GIS Specialist (Electric)

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a GIS Specialist (Electric) in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This position is represented by We Energies L2150 Union.

Job Responsibilities

 

The GIS Specialist (Electric) performs the following duties:

 

  • Creating and maintaining detailed GIS maps of the existing land base and electric distribution system through the use of computerized Geographic Information System (GIS) type technology.  The maps provide a complete systematic inventory of the equipment and lines that make up the WE distribution facilities.
  • Process facility work orders into the GIS database as well as correct, check and edit existing GIS data for integrity and quality.
  • Contribute to some specialized map projects.
  • Performs other miscellaneous tasks as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Applicant must have one of the following:

 

  • Minimum of two years of GIS work experience in the past five years OR 
  • One year of GIS work experience within the past five years plus four completed courses in GIS technology from an accredited post-secondary vocational school or college, completed within the past five years OR
  • Have a certificate in GIS Technology or completed equivalent coursework (six courses in GIS technology) from an accredited post-secondary vocational school or college, earned/completed within the past five years.

Testing Requirements

 

Technician Selection System (TECH)-Drafter level: Ability to use numerical information presented in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems, ability to use symbols and codes to locate objects on a map, comprehension of pictured mechanical principles, and the ability to read, apply rules and make decisions based upon written information. Suggested Preparation: Review of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, fractions, etc. A practice test is available at www.eei.org/practicetests. To access the TECH practice test, use a login name of wehrtests and password of getready. (Use lower case letters.)

Minimum Posting Range:  $23.04 

Maximum Posting Range:  $38.42 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
