Engineering Manager - Gas Storage

Job Summary
Manlove Field is a natural gas storage facility located in Champaign County, Illinois where natural gas is stored 4,000 feet below the ground in sedimentary rocks. It has the capacity to store 36.5 Bcf of natural gas. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is also stored at Manlove Field. The liquefied natural gas is stored at -260°F in two insulated tanks. Each tank holds about 12 million gallons of LNG which can be converted into 1 Bcf of natural gas. These two methods of gas storage support require complex equipment and processes, which are located on-site.
The Engineering Manager leads a team of an engineering supervisor, four engineers and site technical staff responsible for complex engineering projects as well as equipment reliablity at the Manlove Gas Storage facility. Has full technical responsibility for planning, developing, interpreting, organizing, coordinating and executing a variety of projects which are complex in nature and require the application of engineering and project management skills.
Performs other department work as needed including, engineering design, preparing and/or approving construction and material specifications, monitoring project budgets and overseeing the work of contractors.
Job Responsibilities
- Plans work activity schedules, resource allocation, prioritization of activities, etc.
- Develops scope of work, design criteria and selection of outside service providers
- Prepares RFP's, reviews proposals and makes recommendations based on advanced knowledge of requirements. Coordinates preparation, approval and distribution of standards, specifications and contract language
- Performs contract administration and construction inspections for complex, multidisciplinary projects
- Provides oversight to ensure successful completion of all aspects of large projects
- Leads large projects in response to evolving industry standards, environmental and regulatory requirements, advanced technology opportunities and/or performance improvement needs
- Provides oversite, guidance and coaching to their team and outside resources to ensure the plant meets it obligations to various entities for environmental, design, structural, and compliance regulation
- Leads operational excellence programs to drive increased reliablity and safety for all site equipment and processes
- Foster a team work environment between the various work groups on site and outside contractors
- Become subject matter expert on facility technical processes and seeks out resources to develop and expand that knowledge
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and meet company standards for driving
- Demonstrated experience leading or supervising others
Preferred Qualifications
- Internal combustion or RICE engines experience (1,000+ horsepower)
- Experience with industrial infrastructure equipment (compressors, dryers, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, generators, 2400V 3-phase power distribution)
- Experience with Title 49 CFR 192 and 193, API-1171, ASTM, MSS, etc.
- Experience with pipeline planning, cost estimating, design, construction and integrity assessments
- Specialty computer applications experience such as GIS, SAP, Eclipse, Cority and AutoCAD

Pay Range Minimum: $117,004.94
Pay Range Maximum: $190,133.06
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
